Roaring Fork Transit Agency (RFTA) has been operating since 1983. This Rural Transportation Authority services the communities of Aspen, Snowmass Village, Pitkin County, Basalt, a portion of Eagle County, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs and New Castle.

RFTA provides commuter bus service along the entire Roaring Fork Valley from Aspen to Glenwood Springs and from Glenwood Springs to Rifle. Additional services include: Intra city for Aspen and Glenwood Springs, ski shuttles to the four ski areas, guided bus tours to the Maroon Bells, and a variety of other seasonal routes.
