CRUISER RIDES:

A “cruiser ride” is a kick back to the days of the one-speed bicycle with chrome fenders, wide handlebars, and the coaster brake. This form of riding is not about competition, riding ability, the brand or quality of bicycle being ridden.

From a pure nostalgic perspective, a cruiser ride is about having that kid-like experience and the pure joy of getting around town without driving a car. Speeds are slow and parking is no problem. Just remember that you must still abide by the rules of the road.

You will find cruiser riders have fun by waving to everyone they see, ringing a bell on the handle bars, then hooting and hollering in a welcoming way. It is more about showing off an old classic or some strange two-wheeled contraption.

Safety Rules & Security Details

  • Each rider should wear a helmet and have bicycle light or headlamp
  • Bring your own lock if you stop in town or along a bike path
  • Avoid riding on E. Durant Avenue or E. Main Street.
  • All rules of the road strickly apply and crosswalks must be used at busy intersections.
